Mike Rizzo has given up his effort in re-signing prized free-agent Bryce Harper, a source tells The Henny Report.
Harper will likely receive upwards of $300M in his free-agency bid, meaning Mike Rizzo has to turn elsewhere to bolster his outfield.
In a statement coming Friday, the Nationals are expected to announce a 3-year pact for journeyman outfielder Nyjer Morgan. The AAV is expected to be in the $12-14M range.
Morgan has been out of baseball for the past couple seasons training in Florida. He will return for his second stint with Washington.
