Chiarelli: Oilers and Blues Discussed Draisaitl for Edmundson Swap

The Oilers were close to having a new anchor on their blue line.

Documents obtained via The Henny Report state that the Oilers were close to moving the unproven enigma that is Leon Draisaitl for Joel Edmundson, a lanky, puck-moving defenseman.

The framework of the trade would have sent Draisaitl and Kailer Yamamoto to Saint Louis in exchange for Edmundson and a 2021 6th, a pick that Chiarelli has stated he hopes to choose his nephew with.

The trade reportedly fell through after Chiarelli learned that Edmundson had the fewest hits on the Blues defense last season.

More to come.
